University of Edinburgh Vice Principals Professor Jonathan Seckl and Mr. Hugh Edmiston accompanied by Professor Charles Swainson, Medical Director of Edinburgh International Investments, visited Shenzhen People’s Hospital to review progress on a high profile project with the hospital to establish the Scottish model for diabetes care and management. Sponsored by Shenzhen Municipality, the project is now entering its third year. In discussions with the hospital’s President, Professor Qiu Chen, the parties also explored a proposal to develop an Institute for Clinical Skills Training.

University of Edinburgh Vice Principals Professor Jonathan Seckl (right) and Mr. Hugh Edmiston spoke with the hospital’s Endocrinology Department’s resident doctors on how important their jobs are in helping people and advancing science. The students were happy to meet a fellow doctor who is now the Vice Principal of a University that has a medical school which is ranked #12 globally.
